Pour créer une KUMA KURA, « nouvelle langue » ou « nouvelle raison », Richard Monségu et Jahkasa se sont associés pour mobiliser une équipe panafricaine de musiciens convaincus. Les chansons, interprétées en bwamou, mooré, dioula et français, racontent l’amitié entre femmes et hommes, la reconnaissance mutuelle, l’absurdité des conflits armés, l’orgueil masculin, la langue de bois, le réveil des consciences, la générosité de l’artiste, les irresponsables politiques…
Une brèche réaliste, sereine et fraternelle qui pourrait bien protéger des égarements existentiels vécus au Nord comme au Sud !
To create a KUMA KURA, “new language” or “new reason”, Richard Monségu and Jahkasa teamed up to mobilize a pan-African team of convinced musicians. The songs, interpreted in Bwamou, Moore, Dioula and French, tell the friendship between women and men, mutual recognition, the absurdity of armed conflicts, male pride, wooden language, the awakening of consciences, the generosity of the artist, the irresponsible politicians…
A realistic, serene and fraternal breach that could well protect from the existential mistakes experienced in the North as in the South!

Né de la considération réciproque entre Richard Monségu, chanteur-batteur français directeur artistique de la Cie Antiquarks et Jahkasa, chanteur et balafoniste burkinabé fondateur des Nuits du Faso, KUMA KURA s’érige tel une passerelle transculturelle.
La musique de KUMA KURA ébranle les frontières imposées entre musiques « locales » et « globales ». En fusionnant reggae roots, polyrythmies africaines et textures électriques ethno-rock, elle propose une identité robuste, émancipée des clivages entre les peuples. Elle brouille l’étiquette fourre-tout et artificielle de « musique du monde » en invitant le public à se jouer des étiquettes.
A l’écart de toute représentation exotique condescendante, KUMA KURA aspire à une harmonie philosophique et musicale authentique ancrée dans une relation féconde de traditions artistiques panafricaines et européennes.
Avec ses choix audacieux (réactivation de récits et proverbes populaires, hybridations rythmiques, timbres d'instruments traditionnels mêlés aux pulsations modernes...), KUMA KURA instaure une poétique de l’altérité ouverte au dialogue entre langages symboliques et savoirs singuliers.

Born from the mutual consideration between Richard Monségu, French singer-drummer and artistic director of the Cie Antiquarks and Jahkasa, Burkinabe singer and balafonist founder of the Nuits du Faso, KUMA KURA stands as a cross-cultural bridge.
KUMA KURA's music shakes the imposed boundaries between “local” and “global” music. By merging roots reggae, African polyrhythms and ethno-rock electric textures, she proposes a robust identity, emancipated from the divisions between peoples. It blurs the catch-all and artificial label of “world music” by inviting the public to play labels.
Away from any condescending exotic representation, KUMA KURA aspires to an authentic philosophical and musical harmony rooted in a fruitful relationship of pan-African and European artistic traditions.
With its bold choices (reactivation of popular narratives and proverbs, rhythmic hybridizations, timbres of traditional instruments mixed with modern pulsations...), KUMA KURA establishes a poetics of otherness open to dialog between symbolic languages and singular knowledge.
